Growing up in Germany

I first met Abdul Jalil 40 years ago, when he was a young instructor at AUC. He had just become a father when he visited us in Istanbul with his small family -- a really memorable meeting. Over the years, he became Professor Stelzer in Cairo and Sheikh Abdul Jalil in Cyprus. Remarkably, he balanced both worlds, earning his reputation as a "lighthouse on campus."
